Wellington Phoenix fans are slowly jumping ship after Auckland FC claimed the A-League premier plate in their maiden season.
This came after Auckland secured the plate at 11:43 p.m. on Saturday night, when Melbourne City drew 0-0 with Adelaide United.
Auckland had the honour of lifting the plate at Go Media Mount Smart Stadium after their 1-0 victory over Perth Glory in front of a sellout crowd.
This is the first time a New Zealand club has won A-League silverware, with the Wellington Phoenix still trophyless after 18 seasons.
Auckland had to deal with a heap of criticism during the season, with many claiming they bought their success due to heavy investment and that they were not good enough to continue their good form throughout the season.
However, Steve Corica’s men drowned out the noise and only lost two games during the regular season and claimed the plate with one game left to play.
Many Phoenix supporters will be looking to jump off their sinking ship of a team with no success in sight to climb aboard a potential dynasty.
The top six teams at the end of the regular season contest the Championship, with the winner decided in the grand final on the weekend of May 31.
Auckland will now be looking to become the first expansion team to win the double in their first season.
