A woman who allegedly continued to sell unsafe fruit juice despite warnings from MPI has been charged.

One Fruit Box director, Riiria Jade Tatana, is facing four charges for alleged breaches of the Food Act between 2023 and 2025.

The Ministry of Primary Industries laid the charges after the woman continued to sell unpasteurised fruit juice despite being told to stop by New Zealand food safety.

If found guilty, she could face up to two years in prison or a $75,000 fine.

Tatana is set to represent herself in court in October.

People who bought fruit juice from the business were urged to throw it out, as it may have been contaminated with E. coli or Salmonella.

Tatana has previously told the media that she was not willing to pay the registration fees for her business.

“We’re going to continue doing what we’re doing, whether they like it or not, God is my boss, not MPI,” she added.
