We’re almost in the middle of winter, it’s ski season, mid-winter Christmas time and there are some wonderful places to be in NZ during this time such as Queenstown, Wanaka etc, but no one is talking about places not to be.

So here is a list of five places not to be during July and Winter.

  1. Auckland

Cold, rains every second day, damp, why would anyone actively come or stay in Auckland at this time of the year, it’s not even a cool or aesthetic city winter, it’s just kind of yuck.

  1. Hamilton

Apart from Super Rugby, there isn’t a lot of reason to come here unless you want to see the gardens, I can think of so many other places I’d rather be.

  1. Levin

I’ve been once during Summer, I didn’t like it then, so I can’t imagine it’d be any better during Winter.

  1. Invercargill

Invercargill cops a lot of slack and frankly, I think that’s unfair, which is why they’re placed second and first. They don’t have much but I’ve heard they’ve got a good pool.

  1. Greymouth

I mean, what is there to say, unless you’re a farmer or have an interest in gold mining there isn’t a lot of reason to go, not just in winter but anytime. They do have a really good Domino’s pizza though.
