Brian Tamaki, leader of Destiny’s Church has said he will be leaving NZ on an extended holiday as experts speculate it could be due to fears Mpox will be a repeat of Covid-19 situation.
Although, considering his anti-lockdown and vaccine stance he may not want go through the same debacle as last time and leave all together.
In 2021 Tamaki and his wife were publicly ridiculed for their stance against the Covid-19 vaccination and was summoned into court for breaching lockdown rules and instigating gatherings of up to thousands of people in Auckland despite the maximum gathering limit being 10 at the time.
Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) is a viral disease most commonly passed on through contact with the blisters or lesions of someone who has Mpox.
The amount of cases of Mpox in Aotearoa is currently at 11.
