A woman has been caught after allegedly trying to steal $200 worth of mayonnaise at a Woolworths on the Weekend.
The suspected mayo heist took place at Woolworths Roselands in Papakura South Auckland on Sunday.
Inspector Matt Hoyes said staff contacted police after a woman allegedly loaded several jars of mayo into a suitcase and left the store.
“Staff were able to provide a really detailed description of the woman,” he said.
“Units conducted mobile patrols in the area and located a female matching the description and wheeling a suitcase, at a bus stop on Porchester Road.”
Inspector Hoyes said the woman was quickly taken into custody gracefully without issue and the items were returned to the store.
A 32-year-old will appear in Manukau district court on October 14 charged with shoplifting.
