In a move that has sparked debate around the world, Dunedin Airport has added a three-minute limit on hugs in its drop-off zone.

Many are outraged at the curfew on cuddles with one person saying it’s inhumane.

“You can’t put a time limit on hugs! it’s inhumane”

Whilst others were supportive of the idea and said we need more places with limits.

“OMG school drop off lines need a similar sign”.

Dunedin Airport CEO Daniel De Bono said they were trying to have a bit of fun with the announcement.

“It’s caused quite a stir, we’ve got quite a bit of a conversation going”

He described airports as a “hotbed of emotions” and pointed to a study that found a 20-second-hug is enough to release oxytocin, the “love hormone”.

De Bono added that having quicker hugs meant more hugs for more customers.
