Whittaker’s chocolate is one thing many Kiwi’s are very passionate about and one of New Zealand’s greatest modern day creations, with many different flavours to choose from the discussion of best Whittakers flavour is hotly debated.
After much deliberation and consideration this is New Zealand Daily’s definitive top 10 Whittakers chocolate flavours.
- Jelly Tip Block
Big hit or miss, you either like or you don’t, for someone who likes Turkish delight, this is as close as Whittakers gets to it so it gets a spot.
- Peanut Block
Love the peanut slab, just a bigger version, how good.
- Dark Block
Hot take but it gets a spot as it is essential for baking purposes.
- Coconut Block
Many chocolate lovers would put this at number one, it is difficult to create good coconut chocolate but the chocolatiers at Whittakers managed to pull it off however, in the spirit of being different and the fact I have a coconut allergy it’s going seventh.
- Creamy Caramel
I mean it’s a classic flavour if you’re feeling slightly more adventurous and don’t want the regular creamy milk flavour this is what you’d consider going for.
- Hokey Pokey Crunch
It’s like the ice cream but in chocolate form, the ratio of hokey pokey filling to chocolate is so close to being perfect but isn’t just yet which means it only makes the fifth spot.
- Dark Salted Caramel
Usually not a huge fan of Dark Chocolate but if it’s done right like the dark salted caramel then it goes extremely hard.
- Berry Biscuit
99% I am not a huge fan of fruit-infused chocolate but the 1% of time I do it’s been done to perfection, the fruit bits taste like fruit and don’t get stuck in your teeth.
- Creamy Milk
Look, you’ve got to have it, it is basic but it’s a staple, non-offensive and keeps everyone happy, if you are buying a block for multiple people this is what you get, simple and plain yet very effective.
- Hazella
Arguably the best Whittakers flavour, it’s so good it slowed down the production of the other flavours because it was so popular. The silkiest and smoothest hazelnut filling with creamy milk chocolate around it, what more could you want?
