The US election is all but over, with former President Donald Trump once again taking the reins. However, this is just the beginning for 27-year-old Daniel Cook, who now eyes a career in politics.

The Wellington-based sparky took the day off work yesterday to watch the entirety of the election coverage.

Whilst watching, he continually updated his boy’s group chat as ballots closed and projections were made with phrases like “Pennsylvania is the key to the whole election” and “the democrats need to hold onto the blue wall”.

Although his mates couldn’t care less about his election updates because they live on the other side of the planet from the States, it did not hinder Daniel’s growing interest.

As the election came to a close, Daniel took to the group chat to ask if he should pursue a career in political science. However, he was met with resounding responses of “no” and comments saying, “Everything you learned about this election was from TikTok.”

But like every good politician he did not listen to what the people were saying and has decided to enrol in the Victoria University political science course for next year.
