A South Auckland cheesecake shop has been left reeling after a man rammed a car into the storefront and stole a caramel-glaze mudcake.

The owner of The Cheesecake Shop was uncertain why his store was targeted and thought it might have been an easy target. The raid occurred at about 1 a.m. Monday.

The cake in question that was stolen was a caramel glaze mudcake which retails for $52.90.

The store’s website describes the cake as “our famous caramel mudcake coated with a premium caramel glaze and finished with an exquisite Belgian chocolate collar flickered with golden hints”.

The owner of the store said that he had provided the police with the security camera footage, which he had said showed an adult male breaking in.

Unfortunately, the store missed out on many trading hours on Monday and was unsure how much the damages would cost.

Fortunately, however, nothing else was stolen from the shop and the damages would be covered by the owner’s landlord.

No other details about the raid were given except that the owner was pleased no money or baking equipment was taken.
