In a move that has shocked parents and nanas alike, Lynx made waves by announcing they will be getting rid of every teenage boy and young man’s favourite Christmas present Lynx Africa.

But before all of you parents and grandparents go stock up on the Lynx Africa gift packs, the announcement is not what it seems.

Last week, the official Lynx Instagram account posted “Rest in Africa” with a Lynx can with angel wings making it seem like everyones favourite scent has been laid to rest.

“We know – it hurts (sorry if we’ve ruined your go-to fragrance) but don’t worry, the rest of your faves are still here to keep you smelling fine, and who knows? Maybe one day, Lynx Africa will make a legendary comeback,” they added in the post.

“We appreciate your understanding during this period of adjustment and apologise for any inconvenience caused”.

The comment section of the post then became a place of anger, confusion and mourning.

“Just fell to my knees,” one person said.

“Cheers mate, Nan doesn’t know what to get me for Christmas now,” a second person said.

A third agreed saying “Christmas presents ruined, cheers”.

Another person said “Criminal behavior, tell me this is a prank”.

Whilst many prepared to go and raid the shops of all the Lynx Africa in stock, a prank did seem to be the case.

Just 24 hours later Lynx dropped another update on Instagram and it turns out they were not telling the whole truth.

“Sorry to all the panicked nans who nearly had a meltdown after yesterday’s announcement,” they said.

“Don’t worry your go-to Christmas gift is safe. To anyone who stockpiled Lynx Africa cans… yeah, they’re not increasing value anytime soon.”

The brand confirmed they’ve just decided to update the can design. “I should have made that more clear in the previous post…”

Diabolical behaviour.
