Police have arrested a 66-year-old South Dunedin pensioner after he attacked his neighbour with a crowbar after a 3 am dispute over noisy music.

​​Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond of Dunedin said police were called to a South Dunedin address early this morning after a disagreement between neighbours escalated.

The 32-year-old neighbour was listening to loud music and painting his kitchen when his 66-year-old neighbour came over with a crowbar.

An argument escalated, and the pensioner allegedly hit his neighbour twice with a crowbar.

Police arrested the pensioner and charged him with injuring with intent to injure.

He appeared in Dunedin District Court this morning.
