E-scooter company Lime has identified and banned a rider from their platform after a young woman was left injured after a Scooter ploughed into her on an Auckland Central footpath.
The crash, which occurred at around midnight last Friday was captured on security footage outside of an apartment block.
The 21-year-old student was left with wounds on her cheek, upper limbs, lower leg, hip and thigh.
“It’s a bit traumatising… my boyfriend hates seeing scooters now,” she said.
In the footage, people can be seen getting out of a car and conversing on the footpath outside the apartment.
Shortly after two people on Lime scooters can be seen speeding along the path a third person on a Lime is then seen crashing into the young student.
“The scooter rider said ‘Oh sorry’, and went on his way. I didn’t get a sincere apology,” the woman said.
A Lime spokesperson said they had received a report from a member of the community and confirmed the rider had been banned from using Lime.
“Our team immediately launched an investigation, and the rider in question has been permanently removed from our platform,” they said.
“Lime has zero tolerance for this behaviour and is fully committed to cooperating with police on this matter.”
