Imposter doctor Yuvaraj Krishnan, managed to pull off an elaborate prank in a way, convincing everyone he was a legitimate doctor despite having no actual qualifications.

Krishnan admitted to the Parole Board that he was driven by his parents’ high expectations, leading him to forge documents and secure a six-figure medical position.

Now serving a sentence of three years and seven months in prison, Krishnan is already seeking an early release.

Despite his lack of a medical degree or registration, he managed to see up to 80 patients, dabbling in research and running outpatient clinics at Middlemore one of New Zealand’s busiest hospitals.

Judge Nevin Dawson expressed frustration over the case, saying that Krishnan’s actions severely undermined public trust in the healthcare system.

Dawson emphasised that New Zealanders should be able to rely on their health services without being forced to play ‘Spot the Dodgy Doctor.
