A Kiwi farmer in the heart of Mackenzie country has moved away from his usual breeds of sheep of Romney and Merino and claims he has created a new “designer” breed that produces “Gluten-free wool”.

Eric Perendale has been in the sheep farming industry for over 50 years and has made a living off producing and selling the highest quality Merino wool.

Eric now at the tender age of 75 wants to have one last crack at being a wool pioneer and once again be a big name in the sheep industry.

He believes he has struck gold with his new creation of “Gluten-free” wool which will be an absolute game changer in the sheep game.

Sounding like a mad scientist Eric says it will be the way forward in all wool-related products.

“My new creation will be a game changer in the sheep industry and will forever change the direction of wool products moving forward”.

He has not disclosed how he did it but we believe he bred Romney and Merino together with a heavy sprinkling of overconfidence and a few dashes of being slightly mad.
