Singapore has been ranked the world’s most powerful passport according to the Henley & Partners index.
The city-state was in a tie for first with five other countries in the last index but has broken away from the pack with visa-free entry to 195 destinations.
France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Spain are all just behind in second.
New Zealand is up to joint fourth with visa-free access to 190 states and countries. It was ranked joint sixth in the last survey.
At the bottom is Afghanistan, with its citizens allowed into 26 destinations without a visa, the lowest score ever recorded in the history of the 19-year-old index. Syria and Iraq are just ahead.
The Henley Passport Index uses data from the International Air Transport Association for its measurements, covering 199 passports and 227 travel destinations.
