Since Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and the National Party assumed office earlier this year they put a policy in place to ban mobile phones in schools in the hopes it will improve performance in schools.

Whilst some students are taking this on board many are protesting this policy, with some using them where they can’t be seen or taking multiple phones to school, one student has taken it even further.

Sam Neal from Christchurch has been told off many times by his teachers and had his phone taken one too many times he decided to take a different approach.

Bringing an old-school rotary phone that he found at his grandparent’s house, when asked why he did it he said.

“I’m not sure, I just wanted to be petty, I don’t even know how to use it, It doesn’t have buttons.”
