A less than pleased Sir Ben Ainslie hit out at Kiwi commentator Stephen Mcivor in a semi-furious outburst after his team went 3-0 down in the 37th America’s Cup.
The British skipper was overheard calling Mcivor a “F**ken W**ker” after finishing up a post-race interview.
McIvor was just coming to the end of his allotted time with Ainslie when he asked the four-time Olympic champion.
“Still believe that you’re as close to New Zealand when it comes to performance? Because I get that feeling coming off your boat.”
The British skipper replied, “Maybe that’s the Kiwi commentator in you, mate,” he replied. Then, as he got up, with his microphone still live, he was heard to mutter off camera: “F***ing w*****.”
When he was asked later if he knew his mic was still on he simply said “possibly”.
