New data from a recent survey conducted by Modern Dating New Zealand found that 80% of women won’t swipe right on a potential partner if most of their dating pictures feature them holding a fish.

The classic “fish photo” has long been a go-to staple for Kiwi men on dating apps, but many suggest it’s time for a change.

One survey participant said they’re looking for a partner, not a rundown of local fishing spots.

“If I wanted to find the best spots for fishing, I’d ask my dad. I’m here looking for a potential soulmate.”

A couple of years ago, it was reported that Tinder considered banning fishing photos from profiles entirely, as many users said they got the “ick” when they saw them.

On the flip side, many men argue that fishing is one of the few times they get photos of themselves, leaving them with limited options.

Time to get out there and take some more pics lads!
