In no surprise whatsoever, Taylor Swift has retained her crown for Aotearoa’s most streamed artist on Spotify.
T Swizzle was the world’s most streamed artist for the second year in a row, grabbing more than 26.6 billion streams, followed by The Weekend, Bad Bunny, Drake and Billie Eilish.
This comes after just this morning, Spotify released their “Spotify Wrapped”, an annual event where the streaming giants assess mountains of listening data and give the user a unique review on the year’s listening habits.
It combines our top artists, tracks and genres, counts up the minutes we listened, and reveals all the new music we learned along the way.
Rising star Benson Boone made his New Zealand Spotify wrapped debut with his song “Beautiful Things” taking out the title of New Zealand’s most streamed song.
Six60 has taken the crown for most streamed local artist, whilst Corella’s hit song “Blue Eyed Maori” took the crown for most streamed local song.
Away from music, The Joe Rogan Experience was the most streamed podcast not only in New Zealand but worldwide as well.
Other popular podcasts in New Zealand this year were The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlet, The Morning Shift, Call Her Daddy, and Huberman Lab.
