Growing up in NZ in the mid-2000s was such a vibe and now that the majority of us are all adults now lets take a look back at some classic childhood memories.

Here are the Top 10 childhood memories every kiwi can relate to.

Nek Minute

It’s one of, if not the classic Kiwi meme. Everybody knew this one, probably including your grandma, it really was the first big viral internet meme in New Zealand.

The poor lad left his scooter outside of the dairy, Nek Minute.

Always Blow On The Pie

Another classic Kiwi meme turned into sound advice, every Kiwi knows to live by this rule.

Harold The Giraffe

Taught me more about the body and safety than my own parents, did I listen? no, but is he still an icon, yes!

Fairy Bread

A classic snack you’d see at most kid’s birthday parties, simply white bread with a bit of butter and a sprinkling of hundreds and thousands, quite the delectable snack.

Stat Attack Cards

Back in primary school if you had the shiny Sonny Bill, Richie McCaw or Dan Carter you were the coolest person at school, stat attack cards were almost as valuable as money back in the day.

No Hat, No Play

One of the most disappointing rules ever established, if you didn’t have a school-issued wide brim hat you had to play in shade whilst all your mates got to run around on the field, truly devastating.

“Mate Your Dreamin”

Really one of the classical Kiwi ads made by none other than DIY its in our DNA Mitre 10.

Those Marae Mugs

You know the exact ones I’m talking about, the brown translucent ones that are always at maraes or school camps.

Jump Jam

Led by the man himself Brett Fairweather, rocking out to witch doctor in the morning before school, so vibes.

What Now!

Gotta love waking up early on Sunday morning to see who’s getting gunged today.
